In May 2015, Nintendo announced a landmark partnership with Universal Parks & Resorts to develop immersive theme parks centered on its beloved games and characters. This move signaled Nintendo's ambitious expansion into a new realm of global entertainment. A decade later, that vision has fully materialized as Super Nintendo World—a dynamic, interactive theme park featuring exciting attractions, engaging gameplay elements, unique merchandise shops, and character-inspired dining. These vibrant worlds are now open in Japan, Los Angeles, and Florida, with a Singapore location coming soon.

Prior to the grand opening of Universal’s new Epic Universe park in Orlando, Florida—which will also debut the Donkey Kong Country expansion for the first time in the United States—I had the opportunity to speak with Shigeru Miyamoto. The legendary designer behind iconic franchises like Super Mario and Donkey Kong shared insights on the creation of these parks, collaborating with Nintendo's next generation of developers, and his enthusiasm for the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console.
