The record-breaking State of Play June 2025 showcase delivered Sony's highest-ever concurrent viewership numbers.

Sony launched the summer gaming season spectacularly, treating fans to an exciting lineup previewing what's coming during Summer Games Fest Week. Standouts included glimpses of 007 First Light, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, Romeo is a Dead Man, and the haunting Silent Hill f.

Streams Charts reports this State of Play shattered records with over 2.2 million peak concurrent viewers - a first for the series. The showcase now ranks as 2025's third most-watched gaming/tech event by peak viewership, surpassed only by two Nintendo Direct broadcasts (with Nintendo's Switch 2 reveal taking the clear lead).

As Push Square noted, while historic for State of Play, Sony's PS5 reveal still holds the overall record with 44 million views. Horizon franchise announcements also drew massive crowds, with Forbidden West at 15 million and Forbidden Dawn at 10 million views respectively. Nevertheless, Tuesday's stream stands as State of Play's unmatched audience champion.

This showcase emphasized third-party partnerships, particularly with Japanese studios like Capcom, Grasshopper Manufacture, Konami, ArtPlay, Square Enix and Team Ninja. First-party Sony titles took an uncharacteristic backseat.

The presentation strongly catered to dedicated gamers, featuring numerous mature-rated action titles that promise intense gameplay experiences.
