AMD has launched AFMF 2, the latest iteration of its frame generation technology. This upgrade promises a significantly enhanced gaming experience, boasting up to a 28% reduction in latency.
AMD's Early Look at AFMF 2: Enhanced Performance in Demanding Titles
AMD recently showcased AFMF 2, highlighting its impressive improvements. These include the aforementioned latency reduction and customizable modes optimized for various resolutions and system configurations. AFMF 2 incorporates refined algorithms and adjustable settings for superior frame rates and smoother gameplay.
According to AMD's internal testing and gamer feedback, AFMF 2 utilizes AI to boost image quality while minimizing latency and maximizing performance. The company reported an average 9.3/10 rating for image quality and smoothness from a surveyed group of gamers.
"This represents a substantial leap forward from AFMF 1," AMD noted. "To get this upgrade into gamers' hands quickly, we're releasing it as a technical preview to gather valuable feedback and further optimize AFMF 2."
The most striking improvement in AFMF 2 is the considerable latency reduction. AMD's benchmarks show up to a 28% average latency decrease compared to its predecessor. This is particularly noticeable in games like Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K Ultra Ray Tracing settings with an RX 7900 XTX, where AMD observed significant latency improvements. The company encourages players to experience this enhanced responsiveness firsthand.
AFMF 2 also boasts expanded compatibility and features. It now supports borderless fullscreen modes with AMD Radeon RX 7000 and 700M series graphics cards. Furthermore, its compatibility with Vulkan and OpenGL APIs enhances animation smoothness. Finally, AFMF 2 integrates with AMD Radeon Chill, allowing users to set custom FPS limits.
