The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the well-known Dark and Darker, have officially announced that they will cease support for the game and shut down its servers. Despite an initial buzz among fans of the genre, Dungeonborne struggled to maintain its player base over its less-than-a-year lifespan, primarily due to dwindling player activity and a lack of substantial updates.
While Dungeonborne's page remains visible on Steam, it has been removed from the platform's search results and can only be accessed via a direct link. Although the developers have not publicly detailed the reasons for the closure, it's evident that the game's extremely low player count was a significant factor. By late 2024, the number of concurrent players had plummeted to just 200, and in the final days, this figure further dwindled to a mere 10-15 players.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled to be permanently closed on May 28, signaling the end of the project. This closure marks a poignant conclusion for a game that once held promise but ultimately fell short of capturing a lasting audience, fading into history without fulfilling its potential.
