Fallout 76 Season 20 Is Live
Embrace Your Ghoul Nature
The latest Fallout 76 update enables players to experience Appalachia as a Ghoul. Bethesda announced on March 18th that Season 20, "The Ghoul Within," has launched with an array of ghoul-themed content, including gameplay mechanics and C.A.M.P. customization options.
Players can now undergo Ghoulification by completing the "Leap of Faith" questline, unlocking access to a previously unexplored region of the Savage Divide. This transformation grants exclusive Ghoul abilities like Glow and Feral, plus 30 unique Perks (or "Gherks" as Bethesda calls them).
The Feral ability replaces traditional hunger/thirst mechanics, providing dynamic buffs that scale with your Feral meter. Beware though – letting it empty triggers extreme effects: "+150% Melee Damage but severe penalties to Endurance, Charisma, Health, AP, and weapon accuracy."
Meanwhile, the Glow ability allows players to absorb radiation instead of suffering from it. This provides immunity to diseases and mutations, health regeneration, and even makes your character visibly luminous. These mechanics work synergistically with the Ghoul's exclusive perk system.
With 28 standard perks and 2 legendary perks available, Ghouls can build unique playstyles. Note that perks related to Hunger, Thirst, and Chem Resistance become irrelevant, as Ghoul physiology removes these needs entirely.
Ghoul Lifestyle Considerations

While Ghoul abilities provide significant advantages in irradiated zones, they come with social consequences. Factions like the Brotherhood of Steel will react violently to Ghoul players, potentially locking them out of certain quests.
A new NPC named Jaye offers disguises to bypass these restrictions temporarily. If the Ghoul life proves too challenging, players can revert to human form via the Character Screen – though this change is permanent. Those who change their minds must pay 1000 Atoms for another transformation.
Instant Level 50 & Full Update Breakdown

Newcomers and veterans alike can accelerate their progress with the Level 50 Character Boost (1500 Atoms), which prepares characters for endgame activities like Daily Ops and Public Events right away.
Season 20 also delivers numerous balance adjustments, bug fixes, and accessibility improvements. Bethesda also teased their April 29th update, "The Big Bloom," continuing their seasonal content roadmap.
Since its troubled 2018 launch, Fallout 76 has steadily improved through consistent updates. Currently holding a "Mostly Positive" Steam rating with 76% positive reviews, the game is available across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms.
