The developer of inZOI has issued an apology for incorporating Denuvo DRM into the game and has committed to its removal. Dive into this article to discover more about inZOI's statement on this matter and their vision for fostering a highly moddable gaming experience.
inZOI Developer Addressed Denuvo DRM Concerns
The inZOI development team has confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from their game. Over the last day, reports surfaced that the Creative Studio mode demo contained this controversial anti-tamper software. Denuvo has long been a topic of debate within the gaming community, often criticized for its impact on game performance.
Denuvo DRM and anti-tamper technology aims to prevent unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, making it challenging for individuals to pirate and distribute cracked versions of games.
In a recent Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim addressed these concerns. He announced that the upcoming Early Access build, scheduled for release on Friday, will be free of any DRM technology. "We initially chose to implement Denuvo as a means to protect the game from illegal distribution. We thought this would help maintain fairness for those who purchased the game legitimately. However, after reviewing community feedback, it became clear that this decision was not in line with our players' preferences," Kjun explained.
Kjun also apologized for not disclosing the inclusion of Denuvo in the Creative Studio mode. He noted that while removing DRM might increase the risk of the game being cracked and distributed illegally, it would allow inZOI to be more freely customizable, thus offering players greater opportunities to tailor and create their own unique experiences. "We believe that fostering this freedom from the outset will lead to innovative and sustained enjoyment for our community," he stated.
inZOI Being A Highly Moddable Game
inZOI's developers have underscored the significance of modding in their game, which made the addition of Denuvo all the more puzzling to players, given its potential to hinder modding and customizations.
Kjun reaffirmed, "As I highlighted during our Online Showcase, we are dedicated to making inZOI a highly moddable game. Our initial phase of official mod support will commence in May, enabling players to utilize tools like Maya and Blender to craft custom content. This is just the beginning. Over time, we intend to broaden mod support across various game aspects, allowing for extensive customization and enhancement of your gaming experience."
He also mentioned that a forthcoming post would provide further details on modding. Krafton continues to prioritize player feedback, making necessary adjustments to ensure a superior gaming experience.
inZOI is slated for an Early Access release on March 28, 2025, on PC, with a full launch planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The exact date for the full release remains undisclosed at this time.
