Michael Douglas, the acclaimed actor renowned for portraying Hank Pym in the Ant-Man films, has hinted his Marvel Cinematic Universe journey may be concluding. After four appearances as the brilliant shrinking scientist, including last year's critically underwhelming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Avengers: Endgame, Douglas suggests his superhero chapter might be closed.
With Avengers: Doomsday now entering production, fans are left wondering if they'll witness Pym's final bow. Douglas himself appears doubtful.
"I don't think so," Douglas revealed to Deadline regarding potential Marvel comebacks. "I've had that experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed it."
The Oscar-winning actor has significantly scaled back his acting roles in recent years, with his Marvel commitments representing his sole major film appearances. Meanwhile, Douglas continues his prolific work behind the scenes as a producer.
"Marvel films introduced me to green screen work for the first time," Douglas reflected. "But right now, I'm valuing this break and embracing personal time. Balancing production company responsibilities with acting became quite demanding."
The veteran actor previously expressed interest in seeing Hank Pym meet his demise in Quantumania, believing this would complete his character's journey while elevating stakes for Paul Rudd's Ant-Man. Marvel Studios executives ultimately opted for a different direction.

Quantumania's lackluster commercial performance casts uncertainty on the Ant-Man franchise's future, though Rudd has already been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday.
As for other Ant-Man series regulars—including Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet Van Dyne and Evangeline Lilly's Hope Van Dyne—their participation appears doubtful. Lilly announced in June 2024 her decision to pause acting indefinitely to prioritize family life, effectively ruling out Wasp's appearance.
Recent leaks from Avengers: Doomsday's production have sparked excitement among fans, revealing unexpected connections to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.
