Then, a glimmer of hope appeared in the form of Sophie's light ball descending into the well. This light ignited Pete's sense of responsibility and transformed his guilt into a mission. Sophie and Pete form an unbreakable team; Pete can only move under Sophie's illuminating guidance, and Sophie understands that Pete is the key to sealing the portals.
