AGDQ 2025 Raises Over $2.5 Million For Charity

Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 Million for Cancer Research

The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, successfully raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This impressive total surpasses the 2024 event by more than $100,000. The annual winter speedrunning marathon featured a diverse lineup of games, including popular titles like Crazy Taxi and Super Metroid.

AGDQ, a flagship event alongside the annual Summer Games Done Quick (SGD), is one of several fundraising marathons organized by Games Done Quick (GDQ). GDQ's commitment to charitable giving extends beyond these major events; they regularly host smaller events, such as Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. Notably, a special Disaster Relief Done Quick event was held in October 2024, raising over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene.

This year's AGDQ 2025, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a Pikmin (Switch) speedrun by Ray0ken. The event's success significantly contributes to the Prevent Cancer Foundation's mission of early cancer detection, prevention, research, and public awareness programs. The partnership between GDQ and PCF has a long history, with over $26 million raised collectively through various GDQ events.

A standout moment was a creatively executed Crazy Taxi run by Chuckles825, featuring a live band performing the game's soundtrack to circumvent copyright restrictions. This innovative 18-minute run generated over $24,000 in donations. The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player Super Metroid (SNES) race, resulting in a nail-biting finish.

Looking ahead, GDQ will host Summer Games Done Quick 2025 in Minneapolis from July 6th, benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
