Assassin's Creed Shadows Campaign Length & Features Detailed
30-40 Hour Main Story With Potential New Game+
During a recent showcase in Kyoto, Creative Director Jonathan Dumont confirmed players can expect 30-40 hours to complete Assassin's Creed Shadows' main storyline, with over 80 hours of additional side content. The development team is evaluating a New Game+ mode for post-launch updates, addressing fan disappointment from Valhalla's lack of this feature.
Japanese Setting Brought to Life
The development team emphasized their passion for creating an authentic Japanese experience, drawing inspiration from classic samurai films while maintaining the series' signature gameplay. Dumont acknowledged historical controversies surrounding protagonist Yasuke but stressed the team's commitment to delivering a respectful, high-quality experience for Japanese fans.
Customizable Hideout Features
Dynamic Home Base System
Players will manage a customizable hideout in Izumi Settsu province, with an acre of land to develop as they progress. Systems Associate Director Dany described it as "pretty ambitious," allowing complete freedom in designing buildings, gardens, and pathways that reflect the player's journey.
Living, Breathing Headquarters
The hideout becomes a dynamic space where recruited characters interact based on their personalities and the facilities available - from training in dojos to relaxing in zashiki rooms. Developers created unique dialogue scenarios by imagining how different characters would interact as "roommates," making the hideout feel like an authentic community hub.
Assassin's Creed Shadows launches March 20, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, offering players a fresh take on the franchise with its feudal Japan setting and innovative base-building mechanics.
