The Pokemon Company Issues Statement on Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Shortage

The Pokémon Company addresses ongoing shortages of its highly anticipated Scarlet and Violet—Prismatic Evolutions expansion, assuring fans that reprints are underway. This marks the first public acknowledgment of the widespread supply issues affecting the January 17th release.

Initial pre-orders in November 2024 quickly led to global shortages, prompting numerous complaints from collectors. In response, The Pokémon Company issued a statement to IGN, confirming the production of reprints to meet the "high demand." While not explicitly mentioning scalping, the company stressed its commitment to increasing production capacity to address the shortfall. A specific release date for the reprints was not given, but they are expected to reach distributors soon.

Further bolstering availability, additional Prismatic Evolutions products are slated for release throughout 2025, including:

  • A Mini Tin and Surprise Box (February 7th)
  • A Booster Bundle (March 7th)
  • An Accessory Pouch Special Collection (April 25th)
  • A Super-Premium Collection (May 16th)
  • A Premium Figure Collection (September 26th)

Players can also obtain Prismatic Evolutions cards starting January 16th via the Pokémon TCG Live mobile game's Battle Pass. The Pokémon Company expressed gratitude for fans' patience and reiterated its efforts to resolve the supply issues swiftly.
