Exciting changes are on the horizon for REPO as its developers are set to revamp the game's difficulty scaling and introduce fresh mechanics every 10 levels. Dive into the details on the upcoming adjustments to the Overcharge mechanic and discover what the team at Semiwork has been crafting during the game’s open beta.
REPO Development Updates
Overcharge Overhaul
Following the launch of an open beta for their eagerly awaited update, REPO's developer, Semiwork, gathered crucial feedback from fans. A standout feature that caught their attention was the game's Overcharge mechanic. This unique ability allows players to grab enemies, hurl them onto hard surfaces, or toss them away from their team. However, using this power comes with a risk: an overcharge meter that, once full, causes the player to explode.
Originally introduced right from the start, the developers have decided to delay the Overcharge mechanic's availability until players reach level 10. This is part of a broader strategy to introduce new difficulty-enhancing mechanics every 10 levels (at levels 20, 30, and beyond), with Overcharge marking the beginning of these scaled challenges.
These new mechanics will not only ramp up the game's difficulty but also enrich its lore. As Semiwork's team explained, "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."
Developers Joined Open Beta Matchmaking
During the recent open beta, Semiwork's developers took an unconventional approach by joining random matches to engage directly with the player base. Pontus Sundstrom, a developer at Semiwork, expressed his joy at seeing players enjoy the new additions to the game. He shared, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." Sundstrom further revealed, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."
Armed with valuable community feedback, Semiwork is committed to enhancing REPO in future updates. Players can anticipate more exciting developments, with the developers promising to release further information soon.
