REPO

The developers behind REPO recently unveiled their roadmap, featuring a clever "duck bucket" mechanic to prevent the infamous duck from turning lethal. Dive deeper to explore upcoming changes and hear Lethal Company creator's candid take on the game.

Breaking Down REPO’s First Major Update

Introduced: The Duck Bucket Defense System

REPO

REPO's inaugural update introduces both a fresh map and the revolutionary duck bucket—a tool to neutralize the game's most notorious waterfowl. Semiwork Studios showcased these features in their March 15 YouTube developer update.

This 6-player cooperative horror game challenges teams to carefully scavenge items amidst terrifying environments. Teams must constantly evade The Apex Predator—a seemingly harmless duck that morphs into a relentless killer for 10 seconds when disturbed.

The new duck bucket finally gives players a way to contain this persistent threat, preventing accidental transformations during critical missions. Update 1.0 also brings enhanced character expressions and numerous gameplay refinements.

"The Museum" Map and Matchmaking Overhaul

REPO

Semiwork Studios teases "The Museum"—a challenging new environment designed to test players' parkour abilities. Extraction zones will now feature clear visual boundaries, eliminating guesswork during loot runs.

The team is implementing highly-requested public lobbies with host-controlled privacy settings. "While adding a kick function sounds simple, it requires complex server-side programming—uncharted territory for our team," developers explained. Due to technical complexities, these social features may arrive later than planned.

Lethal Company Creator's Constructive Feedback

Since its February launch, REPO has drawn comparisons to Lethal Company for similar cooperative horror mechanics. On March 15, Zeekers—Lethal Company's creator—shared thoughtful critiques via Twitter/X:

"REPO shines when teams coordinate absurd tasks like moving grand pianos through haunted mansions. However, the current voice chat range feels restrictive, and sprawling maps dilute the tension that makes cramped layouts so effective."

Responding to player concerns about silent enemy approaches, Zeekers added: "The game needs better enemy behavior tutorials—though I suspect that's already in development."

Currently Steam's #2 top-seller (trailing only CS2), REPO has peaked at 230,645 concurrent players—nearly matching Lethal Company's record. This PC-exclusive horror phenomenon continues evolving—stay tuned for future updates.
