The highly anticipated single-player action game Lost Soul Aside has been delayed by three months, shifting its release from May 30 to August 29, 2025, as announced by its developer, Ultizero Games. Initially slated for a launch next month after nearly a decade in development, the game's release has been pushed back to ensure additional polish and meet the high standards set by the studio.
"We are truly grateful for the positive response we've received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside," Ultizero Games stated. "We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience. To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Soul Aside will now release on August 29, 2025. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch."
Originally the passion project of solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved into a major title under Sony's China Hero Project. Bing, now the founder and CEO of the Shanghai-based studio Ultizero Games, has seen his vision grow from a solo endeavor to a widely anticipated release. The game's journey was highlighted by a trailer reveal at Sony's State of Play broadcast, which further fueled the excitement around this title.
In a recent interview with IGN, Yang Bing discussed the long road to launch. The game has garnered significant attention, with many praising it as an exciting blend of Final Fantasy characters and Devil May Cry combat. This buzz started when Bing's initial reveal video went viral back in 2016.
The protagonist, Kesar, wields a versatile, shape-shifting weapon that allows players to switch playstyles dynamically. Accompanying Kesar is a dragon-like companion named Arena, who can summon abilities to aid in combat. Lost Soul Aside draws inspiration from its predecessors, emphasizing aerial dodging, precision timing, combos, and countering, all set against the backdrop of large-scale boss fights. The game's narrative weaves a sci-fi premise with contemporary aesthetics, taking players across multiple dimensions. While the trailers leave much of the story shrouded in mystery, Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery."
